Paul Aisen, MD
Paul Aisen is the founding director of the USC Alzheimer’s Therapeutic Research Institute (ATRI) in San Diego, an organization working to accelerate the development of effective therapies for Alzheimer’s disease. As the director of ATRI, he collaborates with academic groups and pharmaceutical companies on the development, design and implementation of multicenter trials. A leading researcher in Alzheimer’s disease clinical trials, Aisen was previously a professor of neurosciences at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine and the director of the Alzheimer’s disease cooperative study. Aisen received a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Harvard College and a Doctor of Medicine from Columbia University. He interned at Case Western Reserve University and completed his residency and chief residency at Mount Sinai Hospital, as well as a fellowship in rheumatology at New York University. Aisen is board-certified in internal medicine and rheumatology.
